Public Safety Services Headquarters ribbon cutting event
06-05-2025

County leaders and partners gathered last week to celebrate the grand opening of the new Public Safety Services Headquarters in Plymouth.
The new building will serve as the central operating hub for the Sheriff’s Office Enforcement Services Division and replaces an aging facility in Brooklyn Park.
The new $41 million facility, which sits adjacent to the 911 Communications Center on the same campus as the Adult Corrections Facility, is the result of years of planning and allows for the continued growth of Sheriff’s Office needs and operations.
The state-of-the-art building and its central location allow for a more efficient and speedy response from law enforcement and will provide improved public safety for residents for years to come.
The project also reflects some of the county’s highest priorities, including climate action and disparity reduction.
The facility’s sustainable technologies and systems aim to reduce our carbon footprint and increase conservation. Features include rooftop solar panels, electric vehicle stations, a geothermal heating and cooling system, rainwater capture and recycling, and a green roof.
Our partners at Stahl Construction helped realize our aim to engage a diverse workforce for this project. The contracted workforce was comprised of about 50% BIPOC and 10% female workers, and about nearly 9% of the contractors were small, minority, and women-owned businesses.
Additionally, Stahl partnered with Better Futures Minnesota, a local non-profit workforce development agency that works primarily with justice-involved individuals, to handle deconstruction of a 33,000 square foot building that previously sat on the site. The crews carefully took apart the building to recover reusable materials. Salvaged materials are sold at the agency’s ReUse Warehouse, diverting 700 tons of building materials a year from area landfills, including 33 tons from this project.
