After months of training, 15 Hennepin County Government Center janitors graduated with their certificates in Green Cleaning. They were honored in a special ceremony recognizing their dedication to sustainability, environmental health and professional advancement.
The Green Janitor Health Certification program empowers janitorial workers with the skills and knowledge to support healthier, more sustainable buildings. The curriculum covers key topics such as green cleaning methods, energy efficiency, waste reduction and water conservation. In addition to benefiting the environment, the program recognizes janitors as essential stewards of frontline sustainability efforts.
One participant of the program shared how it transformed their daily habits. They explained they now take the bus to work instead of driving, a small change that reflects the broader value of the program.
Hennepin County is proud to have supported this initiative in collaboration with partners including the Minnesota Training Partnership, the U.S. Green Building Council and its Minnesota chapter, SEIU Education and Support Fund, SEIU Local 26, ABM, and the U.S. Energy Foundation.
Congratulations to the recent graduates!
