Caring for our home: Earth Day 2025

Earth Day is one of the largest civic engagement events on the planet, motivating millions of people each year to care for our environment and take action for a brighter future. 

Hennepin County is proud to support these efforts. From cleaning up and protecting waterways to embracing green building practices to planting trees, we are committed to fostering stewardship of our environment and advancing equity to support a healthy and thriving community. 

Join Hennepin County this month as we celebrate Earth Day on April 22 and Arbor Day on April 25. Here are some ways the county is taking action and ideas to get involved in your local community.

Cleanup events 

Find an Earth Day community cleanup event in your area:

• Eden Prairie Park Cleanup weekend – Saturday, April 12, and Sunday, April 13, all day at all parks throughout Eden Prairie
• Earth Day 5K Bee/Run/Walk/River Cleanup – Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to noon at Boom Island Park in Minneapolis
• Minneapolis Earth Day Cleanups – Saturday, April 19, from 9:30 a.m. to noon at 42 parks throughout Minneapolis
• Earth Day West Broadway Cleanup – Saturday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at US Bank parking lot in Minneapolis,
• Earth Day Community Cleanup – Saturday, April 19, from noon to 4 p.m. at 1315 Valders Avenue North in Golden Valley
• Champlin Earth Day Cleanup – Tuesday, April 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Andrews Park in Champlin
• Nokomis East Earth Day Cleanup – Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to noon at 5342 25th Avenue South in Minneapolis
• Valley Park Cleanup – Saturday, May 10, at Valley Park in Hopkins 

Learn and connect at community events

Beyond participating in a cleanup, you can celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day by helping plant trees, joining a bike ride, planting for pollinators, learning about local sustainability resources, participating in a clothing swap, going on a nature hike, and much more!
