Probation in Hennepin County: See their work in action
07-30-2025

From July 20-26, we celebrate Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week. This is an opportunity to recognize the more than 460 supervision agents and field services staff in Hennepin County who work hard to keep our communities safe.
As the largest county corrections agency in Minnesota, the Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) supervises more than 21,000 juvenile and adult probation and parole clients at any given time. What those numbers don’t show is how corrections and supervision in the county has evolved over time.
Today, probation and parole officers act as guides and change agents, helping clients navigate complex systems, connecting them to essential resources, and working collaboratively with other justice system partners.
“We are coming alongside the clients more now versus watching from afar,” said Kendra Sirek, senior probation officer, in a new video (see right) about probation in Hennepin County.
“We're helping [our clients] integrate new skills into their life so that probation isn’t viewed as the bad guy and is actually viewed as more of a tool and support system.”
