Volunteers Make Foster Family Picnic a Day to Remember

The annual foster family picnic is more than just a gathering—it’s a celebration of community and support. This year’s event showed how volunteers turn a simple day in the park into an unforgettable experience for families. 

Volunteers worked tirelessly to make the event possible on a limited public agency budget. They secured donations of food, beverages, and raffle prizes, ensuring families could enjoy a fun-filled day. Guests were treated to delicious pizza from Valeo’s in Bloomington, even after a last-minute challenge required creative problem-solving to get the food to the park. 

Medtronic employees contributed 10 volunteers and 20 hours of service, helping with face painting, temporary tattoos, food service, and outdoor activities like hula hooping and kids’ games. Their presence brought energy and fun to every corner of the event. 

These contributions go far beyond logistics—they create moments of joy and belonging for families who need it most. To all the volunteers and partners who gave their time, energy, and creativity: thank you for making this celebration possible.
